How to: Nail design #1
Hi everyone!
Today i decided to do a 'How to' on one of my nail designs which i pretty much like. I have yet to find myself good lighting equipment to do my videos so as for now just read up if you wanna know how to create my nail designs. This design to me is simple, chic and a little retro. It suits any kind of outings, any events and its very, very simple to create. I took only 15 minutes max and if you're used to painting your own nails, i think you can prolly do it faster than me. You don't have to be a pro to do this i promise. Easy peasy!
The tools and colours i use!
From the left: Base Coat 02, RD302, OPI Nail Lacquer Spark de Triomphe in NL S18 , BK901 & Top coat 03. (All from The Face Shop except the OPI of course)
In the center: Orange Stick & Dotting Pen.
Step 1:
Paint your nails a layer of base coat. You can use any base coat you've got, you don't have to use the exact same one i'm using. Base Coats prevent your nails from nail polish stains. If you often paint your nails without using a base coat, your nails will eventually turn yellow after awhile and you don't want yellow nails! So i strongly recommend you to use a base coat before painting your nails. Base coat also creates an adhesive base for your nail polish to hold on to.
Here's a TIP!
Buy base coats that contain nutrients to replenish brittle and dry nails so that over a period of time, you don't have to face nail breakage, splitting or peeling.
Step 2:
Paint top 1/3 of nails with the glitter nail polish. I used the OPI Nail Lacquer Spark de Triomphe in NL S18. I told you before i don't have alot of OPI, so this is one of the few from my collection. I personally love the polish because some glitter nail polish don't give you the kind of "glitter stain" you want because its either too watery or too thick and clumpy.
Step 3:
I used a paper as my palette to pour a little bit of my nail colour on it so i don't dry up my remaining Nail polish by leaving it exposed to the air. I simply used my dotting tool to paint little dots on my nails starting from the portion with glitter down. I repeated the step with the black nail polish. You don't necessarily have to use a dotting tool or pen. You can use an orange stick or a pencil, something with a sharp tip.
Here's another TIP!
Do not leave your nail polish bottles opened and exposed unless you want clumpy nail polish!
Step 4:
I painted all of my nails a layer of top coat to protect my nail design and give my nails a long-lasting shine! Top coats prevent nail polish from fading and chipping. If you're planning to keep your nail design for a longer period of time, apply a layer of top coat everyday.
And that's it!
