Product review: Brush cleaners

People often come to me complaining about how some products have negative impact on their skin such as breakouts, rash and what not. Yes, not all products are suitable for all skin types and Yes not all products can match your skin needs and that is why you might suffer from all of the above mentioned. HOWEVER sometimes it could be because your makeup applicators are dirty. I emphasize, DIRTY. This happens when you (1)Don't wash your brushes/powder puffs often or not at all or (2)Don't change your sponges every now and then. This is very important as it is basic hygiene. Theres no point spending so much on beauty products to clear pimples or reduce this and that but don't practise basic hygiene. So today, im gonna recommend you 2 relatively good and affordable products that you can use to clean your brushes.

In the image above, the one on the left which says 'Cosmetic brush cleaner' is from COSMOPROF and the one on the right which says 'Daily makeup brush cleaner' is from SEPHORA. Both are very affordable. Cosmoprof's is $5/$6 i can't really remember and Sephora's is $12. I believe Sephora's is slightly more expensive because it comes in a spray bottle for easier usage. Whereas Cosmoprof's comes in a glass bottle so u'll have to use a stainless steel container to pour the product into to wash your brushes. Both has its own plus and minus points and i'll tell you what they are.

COSMOPROF's + points :)
1) Cleans your brushes very well. No makeup left on brushes after cleaning.
2) Strong but doesnt spoil your brushes leaving them soft as it is.
3) Cheap Cheap!
4) Don't have to wash brushes as often, maybe once/twice every week, as it cleans brushes completely in one wash.

COSMOPROF's - points :(
1) Comes in a glass bottle. A little bit of a hassle to clean your brushes as you'll have to use a stainless steel container to pour the product into.
2) Brushes have to be air dried a little longer.
3) Easy to use for small brushes but big brushes require more product usage.
4) Cannot pour into plastic spray bottles as the chemicals are too strong for such bottles

SEPHORA's + points :)
1) Comes in a spray bottle for easier usage. Just spray onto bristles and wipe clean on dry towel.
2) Good for big brushes as your bruhes wont have to be soaking wet.
3) Dries faster
4) Anti-bacterial formula

SEPHORA's - points :(
1) Brushes wont be a 100% clean. Still a teeny bit of makeup left on brushes after cleaning.
2) Slightly more expensive. You can buy 2 of Cosmoprof's instead of 1 of Sephora's ;)
3) Slightly scented (Well, to me this is a - point)
4) Better to use daily as it only cleans off light traces of makeup on brushes. (More product used = more spending!)

So there you go! To me, these two products are somewhat similar. Both are good products but if i had to choose between these two, i'd choose COSMOPROF's simply coz i don't have to wash my brushes everyday. hehehe ;p

So yup, hope this helps! Remember, WASH THOSE BRUSHES so you can have fun with makeup without having to worry about breakouts and such! :D
